If you have never had a professional massage or spa treatment, we know it can be a daunting prospect for some people. We have put together this page so you know exactly what to expect every step of the way!
When You Arrive
When you arrive for your treatment, you MUST enter the office wearing a mask/face covering unless you cannot wear one due to a documented medical condition. Your therapist will also be wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing. If you did not already complete it online, you will be taken to a treatment room to complete an intake form that involves a short medical questionnaire, a description of policies and procedures, and a consent for treatment statement that will require your signature. If you are a minor, your parent will be required to sign your consent form for you. Please note that any major medical issues or allergies not discussed with your therapist upon scheduling may affect your ability to receive certain services.
Before Treatment
After completing your intake form, your therapist will review concerns or issues, as well as discuss preferences for music, pressure, aromatherapy and anything else that might affect your comfort. The therapist will step out of the room while you disrobe and position yourself on the massage table under the provided sheet and blanket (or large bath sheet for spa services). Massage is most effective when applied directly to skin – however, you may leave undergarments on if you are uncomfortable removing them, though be aware that some products used during treatments may stain. We also provide disposable undergarments for spa body treatment services to use if you choose. It is also recommended that you remove watches and jewelry for your session. Your therapist will knock before re-entering the room. If you are not ready, your therapist will wait until you are.
During Treatment
You are required to wear a mask/face covering while receiving massage unless you are face down and the face cradle is equipped with a cloth barrier OR you cannot wear a mask due to a documented medical condition. Your therapist will also be wearing a mask, goggles or face shield, and a clean smock. When your treatment begins, your therapist will check in with you regarding pressure and comfort. Your body will be draped with a sheet and blanket (or large bath sheet for some spa services) to preserve your modesty at all times – only the area being treated at any given time will be exposed. In the event you need to use the restroom during treatment, robes and slippers are available for use if desired. Do not hesitate to notify your therapist if adjustments are needed to ensure your comfort, this is your time and you are entitled to enjoy it!
After Treatment
When your session is complete, your therapist will step out of the room to allow you time to get dressed. Open your treatment room door when you are ready, and your therapist will come into the room to privately discuss recommendations and complete your payment if you have not prepaid. Gratuities are never expected, but always appreciated and can be added to your payment by credit card or given directly to your therapist in cash. Please remember to drink plenty of water for the rest of the day and do your best to follow any self-care instructions from your therapist to receive the most benefit from your session.
